Getting started with NotesXD

NotesXD is a native macOS app that combines notes, tasks, real-time transcription and an always-on AI assistant. Here is how to get up and running in a few minutes.

Requirements

  • A Mac running a recent version of macOS.
  • Microphone permission (for transcription and voice conversations).
  • An internet connection for AI chat and voice (transcription itself runs on your device).

Install & first launch

  1. Download and open NotesXD, then drag it to your Applications folder.
  2. On first launch, macOS may ask you to confirm opening the app.
  3. Grant microphone access when prompted — this is required for transcription and voice.

Create your first note

Click the new note button in the note list. Give it a title, then start typing in the editor. Notes save automatically and stay on your Mac.

Free plan & Pro trial

Notes and tasks are free forever. Every new install starts with a 15-day free trial of Pro — no card required. When the trial ends you move to the free plan, and you can activate Pro at any time.

Pro unlocks live transcription, always-on AI chat, voice conversations with your notes, active listening and calendar meeting alerts.

A quick tour

  • Sidebar — your folders and notes, plus the Tasks and Dashboard views.
  • Editor — the main area where you write; can be maximized for focus.
  • Chat bar — always available at the bottom to chat or talk with your notes.
  • Transcription — start a live transcription that writes into the active note.
