Real-time transcription
NotesXD transcribes meetings in real time, directly on your Mac. It does not record audio — it converts speech to text locally and discards the audio immediately.
Starting a transcription
- A transcription is always tied to an open or active note.
- It captures your microphone and system audio simultaneously, so both sides of a meeting are transcribed.
- If you switch notes during transcription, the result is saved into the active note when you stop.
- If no note is open when you stop, NotesXD opens a new note and assigns the transcription to it.
Smart conversation detection
Active listening can detect when a conversation starts. During a turn, the red indicator shows it is capturing; after about three seconds of silence the indicator turns off, so a new turn appears separately even if it is the same speaker.
Language
A language indicator/dropdown sits at the top-left. The app auto-detects the spoken language during the first seconds of a conversation and can switch (for example from EN to ES). You can also pick a language manually from the dropdown for the current conversation — that choice does not change your app settings.
Summaries & minutes
When you stop, you can generate an AI summary or meeting minutes. A button appears with a loading state and waits until the full summary is delivered into the note. Anything that needs to be done is captured as a task. If the model returns an error, you'll see a clear message.
Transcription vs. voice chat
While a transcription is running, voice conversations with your notes are paused — you can still chat by text. This keeps the microphone dedicated to capturing your meeting.
