Update NotesXD

Get the latest version of NotesXD. This one-time update is done manually — after this, you'll be able to update right from the app via NotesXD → Check for Updates.

Your notes are safe. They're stored separately from the app, so replacing NotesXD never deletes your notes, transcriptions or tasks.

Step by step

  1. Quit NotesXD

    If you already have a previous version installed, quit it completely before continuing: macOS won't let you replace the app while it's open. Use the menu NotesXD → Quit, or press ⌘ Q (closing the window isn't enough). If you don't have NotesXD installed yet, skip to the next step.

  2. Download the new version

    Click the button above to download NotesXD.dmg.

  3. Open the disk image

    In your Downloads folder, double-click NotesXD.dmg. A window opens showing NotesXD and your Applications folder.

  4. Move it to Applications

    Drag NotesXD onto the Applications folder shown in that window, and choose “Replace” when asked. The app must live in Applications.

  5. Open NotesXD

    Launch it from Applications (or Launchpad). If macOS shows a notice that it was downloaded from the internet, click Open. You can then eject the disk image.

From now on

Once you're on this version, updating is automatic: just choose NotesXD → Check for Updates and the app will download and install new versions for you. Keep NotesXD in your Applications folder so automatic updates work.
